John and Marla’s bathroom needed an update not just for style but also for safety. Built in 1980, it felt closed-in and had a step-down tub that became increasingly unsafe as they aged. The goal was to create an open, functional, and aesthetically pleasing space that would allow them to age comfortably in their home.
John and Marla are a retired couple who wanted a bathroom that would allow them to age in place comfortably and safely. They wished for a modern, open, and accessible design that would enhance their daily living experience.
John and Marla’s bathroom was built in 1980 and was cramped and had a closed-in feeling. As they aged, the step-down tub became a safety hazard. They needed a safer, more open, and functional bathroom to accommodate their changing needs.
We collaborated closely with John and Marla in the design phase to understand their needs and preferences. The main focus was on safety and accessibility while creating a stylish, open design. We selected durable and aesthetically pleasing materials, custom lighting, and windows to increase the natural light.
The buildout process began with removing the outdated step-down tub. We replaced the old tub with a beautiful walk-in shower equipped with a rain head, a handheld showerhead, and grab bars for safety.
Our team opened the space by removing unnecessary walls and installing a floating vanity. We installed a Bathroom Butler towel warmer for added comfort.
John and Marla were thrilled with their new bathroom. The space is much more open and welcoming, and they feel safer using it. Overall, they are delighted with the transformation and can now enjoy their bathroom without any worries.
