Our History in Catalina Foothills
The Foothills filled in slowly and from the bottom up. Development pushed north from River Road toward the range across several decades, so a single street can hold a low-slung 1960s ranch, a 1980s territorial with a courtyard, and a 2000s contemporary with a wall of glass. There was never one builder and never one spec.
For us that means no assumptions. We have opened walls in this area and found post-and-beam framing, block, and stick construction within a few miles of each other. Flat and low-slope roofs are common and have often been recoated repeatedly rather than rebuilt. Electrical panels were sized for a household that did not run three air handlers and an induction range.
The terrain adds the rest. Building into a hillside near Brandi Fenton Memorial Park is a different problem from building on the flatter ground toward Catalina Foothills High School, and grade decides where an addition can go long before taste does. Views drive a lot of decisions here, and protecting a sightline is often the single constraint the whole design bends around.
