Our History in Tanque Verde
Tanque Verde takes its name from the green pools along the creek, and the valley was ranching country long before it was residential. That history is still legible in the parcel sizes. Where Tucson subdivided into quarter-acre lots, this area kept its acreage, and much of it is still zoned in a way that assumes animals, outbuildings, and space between houses.
Residential building came gradually and in pockets. Bear Canyon and Bear Canyon Hills filled in against the slope.
